Horses in Australia

Around the world few animals have become so ingrained in national identities as the horse.

From the carriage horses to the cavalry, to the wold mustangs of the Americas, to the exotic horse-like relative, the Zebra, horses have captured the imagination of the world as no other animal has.

In Australia horses are used as stock workers, rounding up livestock and mustering them around paddocks or wild bush country. They are also widely used on farms, and the horse riding industry is a popular one in both the cities and the rural areas. There are also the wild horses that roam the High Country, the snowy mountains. Known as Brumbies, these are a hardy breed unto themselves and although considered feral and a pest by some, have become part of Australian culture.

Today young and old still love to read stories of horses. Many teenagers still dream of owning their own ponies or horses and wish for the day they can have one of their own. For this reason we created this list of titles for young teens...all about horses.
